“Eco-Aldea Puerto Roma”: proposal for a new sustainable centrality for the islets of Guayaquil
Year: 2016
Recognition:
- 2016. International Contest Ciuhabitat.
- First place, theme settlements in the Gulf of Guayaquil, Puerto Roma. International university competition on the occasion of the Habitat III conferences. Professor, UDLA.
Description of the recognition:
The Eco-Village proposal is inspired by the greatest strength of Puerto Roma: its sense of community. It seeks to generate an equitable productive community, whose objective is to be a new sustainable centrality for existing communities along the islets of the Gulf of Guayaquil.
The master plan of Puerto Roma is made up of 50 modules in a decagonal way, consisting of 6 housing units and productive agricultural areas. The core of each module contains a natural area that helps protect homes from being devastated. This grouping idea arises from the current grouping model, formed by small neighborhoods where the linear organization is replaced by a radial organization, generating different urban nuclei for the functioning of the community.
